What an amazing, unique concept. I liked how Meeshy Mac combined entertainment and education. I particularly liked how the book taught role-play and love for animals by teaching children puppy behaviors through imitation. The illustrations by talented artist Riley Helal were lovely – they were artsy, appropriate for little children, and perfectly supported the narrative. I look forward to using this wonderful book with my toddler grandson and highly recommend it for pre-school and primary school children and their grown-ups.

In Pretend You’re a Puppy!, Meeshy Mac has created an engaging book that turns reading into an interactive learning experience. As an educator, I appreciate the learning opportunities this book provides, and I believe it would be a wonderful addition to homes and early childhood and elementary classrooms. The confidence and self-expression the book can encourage is something I really like. For a child who may be shy, that kind of playful interaction can make participating feel much more comfortable. This book is fun for children but also has real educational value. They’re learning while having fun, and I think that is one of the strengths of the book.
